dj leen hi-five: Wiz Khalifa

djleenhifivefeb1

Welcome to the third installment in the DJ LEEN Hi-FIVE Series. This has been a very successful series, starting with Drake then Kid CuDi and now Wiz Khalifa. Throughout this series I will post up my all-time top 5 greatest songs by our feature artists. Wiz has been an integral part of the explosion of talent that has taken place in pitt in the last few years. Here are my all time Top 5 greatest Wiz Khalifa songs thus far.

5. Wiz Khalifa- The Thrill

Cleverly sampling Empire of the Sun’s “Walking on a dream” record the entire song, there was little chance this song could have been anything short of amazingly uplifting. The catchy melody and the vocals from empire are paired perfectly with Wiz’s playful lyrics and laughing throughout the song. This song IS Wiz Khalifa: chill, laid-back, fun, enjoying life for the thrill of it. If you are ever having a bad day, this song will certainly rasie your spirits as you step into Wiz’s world of a carefree lifestyle.

dj leen hi five – kid cudi top 5

djleenhifivedec23

Welcome to the second installment in the DJ LEEN Hi-FIVE Series. Throughout this series I will post up my all-time top 5 greatest songs by our feature artists. Kid CuDi along with Drake, and Wale represent a new generation of rappers. I already did Drake and now its on to CuDi. Here are my all time Top 5 greatest Kid CuDi songs thus far. (This was a very hard task, so many good songs out!)

1) Kid CuDi- Man on The Moon (The Anthem)

Making its first debut on CuDi’s The Anthem Mixtape, this track introduced his “moon man” theory to the public and eventually became the title of his debut Album. He expresses his feelings of being an outcast growing up in Cleveland, relating himself to “a man on the moon” and “an airplane in the sky”. He not only feels that he is labeled an outcast on a personal level, but also due to his unique musical style, constantly noting the difference between his style and popular hip-hop. My favorite part is during one of the interludes when he playfully says “I got the last laugh niggaaaaaaa“.

DJ LEEN HI-FIVE – drake top 5

jleenhifive0ct1

Welcome to the first installment in the DJ LEEN Hi-FIVE Series. Throughout this series I will post up my all-time top 5 greatest songs by our feature artists. Drake has been gathering alot of hype lately in the mainstream public so I figured he would be a perfect candidate for my first Hi-Five. Here are my all time Top 5 greatest Drake songs thus far. (This was a very hard task, so many good songs out!)

5. Drake – Ransom feat Lil’ Wayne

This is the first song that really introduced Drake to the public. With “feat Lil’ Wayne” on your song title your definitively entering the music scene the right way. Weezy doesn’t just hop on anyones track, so this song gained drake a lot of needed respect. There was of course Man of the Year with weezy but I chose this song as it is more well known.
